Launched in 1972 Pioneer 10 was the first manmade object to travel through the asteroid belt and on to Jupiter. Over 25 years later Pioneer 10 is still sending back information to scientists. Now in deep space far beyond the orbit of Pluto Pioneer 10 is still transmitting data about interstellar space. Except for a brief, but heartbreaking period of time in 2000 the spacecraft has been in contact with Earth as our first emissary to the universe!
