SA-5

SA-6

Begun as a DOD project in 1957 the project was taken over by NASA in 1960 and designed to be a heavy lift vehicle for Dyna Soar, Lunar Gemini and Apollo tests.

The SA-5 version is considered by many rocket fans as the coolest looking rocket ever. This configuration was flown only once and was the first Block II launch and the first to have a live S-IV stage.

The SA-6 through SA-10 configuration was used for boilerplate testing of the Apollo spacecraft and launched three Pegasus Micrometeoroid Detection satellites.

Flights of the Saturn 1 Block 2 ran from 1965 to 1966 and included six launches overall.
